BigXthaPlug's Better Over Time Hits Miami Urban Radio
The Countdown Is On: October 30
Dallas hitmaker BigXthaPlug is five days out from his fourth studio album, BETTER OVER TIME, arriving October 30 through 600 Entertainment and UnitedMasters. The 18-track record is led by "LITE," featuring Atlanta artist Belly Gang Kushington, and it comes with a guest list that reads like a map of American music right now: Lil Yachty, GloRilla, Ava Max, Leon Thomas, Loe Shimmy, Ro$ama, Fridayy and BabyFace Ray.
Here at Dagr8fm, Miami urban radio with a mission, we are locked in — because this is exactly the kind of album our format lives for. BigXthaPlug built his name on a booming Southern delivery, then carried that voice into rooms and onto charts that rarely make space for a Dallas rapper. BETTER OVER TIME is his victory lap, and it sounds like it was made to be played loud.
A Rollout That Put Faces on Billboards Across America
BigXthaPlug did not just announce his features — he posted them across the country. In a nationwide billboard rollout, each collaborator's face appeared in their hometown: Lil Yachty in Atlanta, GloRilla in Memphis, Ava Max and Leon Thomas in Los Angeles, Loe Shimmy right here in Miami, Ro$ama in Dallas, Fridayy in Philadelphia and BabyFace Ray in Detroit. Days later, BigXthaPlug confirmed the lineup himself on Instagram, after a teaser clip stacked with televisions flashing the guests' names.
The teasing started even earlier. Fans noticed BigXthaPlug's face quietly disappearing from the artwork of his earlier albums — Amar, TAKE CARE and I Hope You're Happy — across streaming platforms. Then came a cinematic teaser short film tracing his journey from childhood and his years on the football field to performing before a sold-out crowd.
That Miami billboard matters to us. Loe Shimmy repping the 305 in a rollout this big is a reminder of how deep Miami hip hop runs in the national conversation — and it is why Miami's hip hop scene stays on the radar of every major rollout, not just the local ones.
"LITE" Sets the Tone
The first official single, "LITE," is a return to Southern rap production, with Belly Gang Kushington riding shotgun. BigXthaPlug co-directed the music video with longtime collaborator Jerry Morka, and the visual — hazy nightclub scenes, a late-night drive to meet friends, a lone pianist in a field — sets the album's tone: grounded, cinematic and unbothered.
If "LITE" is the preview, the full album promises range.
From "Texas" and "Mmhmm" to the Billboard History Books
BigXthaPlug first broke through with "Texas" and "Mmhmm," and he has not slowed down since. His last album, I Hope You're Happy, released in August 2025, debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on both the Country and Rap album charts — the only album to chart on both. Its lead single, "All the Way" with Bailey Zimmerman, opened inside the top five of the Hot 100, and the project earned a New York Times cover story and a Best Country Album nomination at the American Music Awards.
Add more than 10.7 billion global streams, a Rolling Stone Future of Music cover photographed by David LaChapelle, and 2026 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards recognition for "The Largest" and "All the Way," and the picture is clear: BigXthaPlug is not a moment. He is a movement. BETTER OVER TIME is the next chapter of an artist getting better, track by track, year by year — exactly what the title says.
What It Means for Miami's Independent Artists
Here is the part of this story every Miami artist should take personally. BigXthaPlug wrote his first songs while serving time, built his buzz from Dallas underground singles, launched his own label in 600 Entertainment, and turned all of it into a multi-platinum career without sanding off his edges. Nobody handed him a lane. He built one.
That is the same message behind everything we do at Dagr8fm. As a Mediabase monitored station (WKMT-DB), we give independent artists real, counted spins that the industry actually sees. We are The Home of Independent Artists, and we mean it: your record gets heard, your story gets told, and your moment gets its stage — whether you are coming out of Miami's hip hop scene or building from your bedroom anywhere in the world.
So when BETTER OVER TIME drops on October 30, run it back. Start with "LITE," then let the features take you city to city — Memphis to Miami to Detroit — and hear what happens when an artist bets on himself and wins. This is Miami urban radio, this is urban music with a purpose, and this is your home — Dagr8fm.
